Yes. BioBlend lubricants are compatible with most conventional petroleum lubricants – if you have a question on a specific product, please contact us regarding your specific requirements.
BioBlend lubricants will not biodegrade in your equipment. Air, water and micro-organisms found in the soil and water are needed to complete the process.
There are many terms: Environmentally Friendly, Green, Eco-Friendly and other undefined terms that are used in the industry by various companies. These terms have no relationship to qualifying as an approved EAL. There is an approved definition of an Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant (EAL) by the US EPA. This definition is used in the 2013 Vessel General Permit for the Marine industry. That definition says that to be classified as an EAL, the product must be ultimately biodegradable, have low toxicity and non-bioaccumulative. The standard also lists the tests that are acceptable to show that a product meets these standards. Many BioBlend products meet this definition and we have the test data from independent labs to support these claims.
No. BioBlend lubricants have excellent lubricity, high viscosity index levels, and can reduce wear, friction, and operating temperatures. In many cases, BioBlend lubricants perform better than products manufactured using petroleum base oils.
The shelf life of biobased lubricants has been dramatically extended with the use of the latest additive technologies. BioBlend lubricants typically have a warehouse shelf life of 18-24 months and can be used in field applications well beyond that time.
The life of any hydraulic oil depends on many factors which include operating conditions and contaminants. BioBlend hydraulic oils have performed well in field applications for extended periods of time. We recommended following the manufacturer’s guidelines for lubricant change intervals. We do not recommend shorter change intervals for our products. By utilizing oil analysis and good maintenance practices customers may in fact be able to extend drain intervals.
Water in a biobased oil hydraulic system is as bad as water in a petroleum lubricant based hydraulic system. In both cases 200-300 ppm of water will deplete some additives, react with others to form corrosives, reduce film strength, clog filters, increase air entrainment, and increase the likelihood of cavitation. The bottom line is that all hydraulic systems have difficulty with high water levels and steps should be taken to lessen the water content in these systems.
Yes. BioBlend hydraulic oils can handle the same typical hydraulic oil pressures petroleum lubricants experience in hydraulic systems.

BioBlend warrants that BioBlend branded lubricant products manufactured and marketed by BioBlend (“BioBlend Lubricants”) will conform to the written specifications for the BioBlend Lubricants as set forth in the product data sheet as in effect at the time of sale and will comply with the written product performance claims for the BioBlend Lubricants contained in the product data sheet as in effect at the time of sale. Yes, however it is recommended to make your re-refined vendor aware that you are including a Group V base oil in the waste stream.
